Preventing and relieving sickness and disability, both physical and mental and providing counselling services for people in distress, through the creation of a Interprovincial Detox and Drug/Alcohol treatment center located in a country side remote environment located on Vancouver Island, with specific focus of programming on Relapse Prevention Planning and post treatment community based continuity of care.
To assist with the increasing opioid and drug alcohol crisis, we intend a 160 person facility with communal focus. We see a safe remote ranch concept, where in home type units of 10 persons, with worker and councilor 24/7, and a common programs room, relapse prevention program, animal and nature therapy, along with dedicated focus on skills based, community partnered reintegration strategy. The Ranch will have a dedicated 'Women only" area, "At Risk Youth" area and Men's area. Houses of not ore than 10 people assist a safer environment and allows the facility to manage conflicts with a safe housing strategy, with a dedicated team.
Our focus will start with Vancouver Island and Kelowna BC, with transition group homes in each location as well.
There is a significant shortage, in fact a non-existence of female only treatment centers in British Columbia, especially Vancouver Island. We intend our Phase 1 of Haven House Treatment Ranch to be a dedicated Female treatment center. Inner city treatment centers, and assistance in the southern island, are focused on men and provide unsafe environments for women for day programs, and next to no existent for at risk youth.
We will have a 50% population dedicated to Indigenous persons with specific Elder and Cultural programming and access. The program will be focused on Relapse Prevention planning and strategies, combined with post treatment, in community continued care and contingency planning. We have an established relationship with local First Nation Chiefs and Elders and would work the Indigenous healing journey with their guidance and the Clinical team.
To separate our model from others, we intend to offer a therapeutic, non institutional environment with intimate and personalized treatment plans, sober reintegration strategies with dedicated and specialized Relapse Prevention Plans combined with community support and contingencies. Traditional treatment centers are prison or hospital type scenarios which make it uncomfortable, and often unsafe for people to focus on their treatment plans, so our Haven House Ranch is designed for houses of not more than 10 persons, to provide an individualized safe environment and programming, in a setting that allows for all walks of life to focus on themselves, and their path to healing. Our facilities will never be in a city core, in the middle of most clients crime/substance cycles. We intend Country Side facilities away from the city.
Post Care includes a 2 month community reintegration strategy at a Haven reintegration ranch, in another city (Okanagan) where the attendee lives in a Haven facility on a farm/ranch environment, from Turkeys, to Cows, to Produce, and works their reintegration strategies with community day passes. It is at this phase where our community relationships will assist clients with job skills, housing and job placements, and a street support team and worker to assist with sobriety and life issues. This strategy provides an additional safety buffer of removing from the environment the client has left.
This is a holistic plan, with a tranquil and safe environment, and a post treatment strategy to ensure continuity of supports, and Relapse Prevention Plan and and not a catch / release to high risk streets.
